Today we would like to discuss conducting your due diligence in selecting a True Custom Builder for your Dream Home.

A true custom home is a “one of a kind” home that has not been built before, filled with amenities and selections that are personal to you. It is not 1 of 6 floor plans that have been built hundreds of times with limited/modified or pre-selected option items. Virtually anyone can build a home that is attractive. Custom Builders have different approaches when constructing homes when it comes to the types of material, quality of material and the contractors they chose to employ. It is the components you do not see before a home is completed that are the most important…from foundation, framing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing to proper insulation. These are just a few items that comprise a structurally sound and safe environment for your family.

We consistently get asked to provide the “cost to build the home or price per square foot”. A true custom builder cannot do this as all custom homes are priced by site/lot excavation, design/homeowner specifications and location of build. In my 22 years of building custom homes I have found that you cannot compare builders on cost alone. As a customer, it is up to you to conduct your due diligence on perhaps the largest investment you will ever make. At Gentry Custom Homes building a home is a relationship, from design to completion and for many years to come.

Get good advice from a competent builder to determine the right one for your family and custom home project. A competent builder will explain the homebuilding process and all the steps along the way. He can guide you through the entire process so you feel confident and secure in your purchase decisions. The company will have an excellent reputation and be up-to-date on building codes, subdivision procedures and city/county requirements.
